Hello all you LED grinders! I am new to the DIY LED world and would like some advice. I made a compulsive purchase and acquired  8 strips (BXEB-L0560Z-35E2000-C-B3) I am trying to cover a 2'x 4' (8sqft) I was hoping to used 1" aluminium channel as a heatsink and attach the strips with thermal type adhesive tape. My question is about proper driver selection I would like to use a Meanwell but I am not quite sure what would be the right voltage/current setup. I definitely want this system dimmable but want max wattage potential of these strips. I have used the Parallel Strip Build Tool and it tells me @75% that an HLG-240H-24 is what I should be looking at. I noticed that the gen 2 min/max forward voltages are not exactly the same as the 1st gen and this driver is set pushing around the 24v range. Can this drivers voltage be adjusted to this range or is there a better driver solution to this setup?

I was under impression that Gen2 isn't available yet... Is this really it?
Looking at the voltage - it seems Gen1. Gen 2 strips using 13.6V - the one you posted is 22V. ;)

You can't go wrong with that driver.

That is the data sheet I am referring to for the Gen 2 strips. Where did you see 13.6v and 22v? It

No worries and thank you for taking the time to look. I have never used a Mean Well driver but I know the voltages can be adjusted some. I am sure the tool on this blog is designed with GEN 1's in mind and if the slight difference in voltages don't matter to these types of drivers that is great. My problem is that I am still wet behind the ears when it comes to these types of builds and would like to make sure I have the best option of driver when I assemble.

You're right - the tool is for gen. 1. The voltage is kind of in a funny place for these gen.2 strips. It ends up being riiiiight at the bottom of a 24V driver's adjustment range, and juuust out of reach of a 20V driver's max voltage.

To play it safe, you might want to just run series on this one. An HLG-185H-C1050 would fit the bill nicely and you could be sure that you're not going to overpower the strips if you aren't able to set the voltage just right.

Thank you very much LEDG. Let me see if I understand this correctly the HLG-185H-C1050 driving the gen2 wired in series should put 1.05A per strip?

Hey @LEDG, by reading the datasheet for the 280mm strips https://www.bridgelux.com/sites/default ... ev%20A.pdf, it seems the comfort zone for the strips will be between 18.5V and 20.5V.

If I understand correctly, at 80°C it seems the voltage increases by 1.5%. so we would be between 18.8V and 20.8V. Wouldn't an HLG-120H-20 rated at 17-22V should do the trick ? I need to clarify this as I'm looking into building a 12 strip 90W panel with these Gen2 :)

Cheers

Note: I see that for the HLG-240H-20 that range is narrowed down to 18.6-21.4V. Seems tougher to manage for high power setups
