Strip light questions and discussions go here (Samsung, Bridgelux, Photo Boost, Growcraft, etc.)

Oh and I seem to be getting a small flicker, although it's barely noticeable.

Is this normal?

Thanks

Congrats on the build.

No, “Flicker” is not typically normal. You should disconnect power, recheck your wiring, terminal connections (possible loose connection?) and then your Input and output voltages. Good luck

Built the light, it's amazing!
Just tuning in to mention it's heresy to say this but not post pics of the completed build!

Thanks Peter, do u think think a flicker could be caused by damaged strips, a couple got stuck in the wrong place while placing them and I had to rip them back off, which I was convinced would have damaged them.

Any idea on my previous question about umol output, cheers.

Is there a way to know how many umols it should put out, I have a lux meter and used a conversion factor for 4000k high cri leds, but can't be sure how accurate the meter is.
I'm getting 26k lux at 4 1/2" which the calculator tells me is 463 umol.
Does this sound accurate as I wasn't expected it to be so high.
Bare in mind the grow cab is lined with something called orca film which is supposed to be the most reflective material available (according the manufacturers at least)

The typical 4000K 80 CRI PPF/Lm Conversion Factor is 0.015 and is accurate to +/- 3%... viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5756
26000 Lux (Lm/m2) * 0.015 Lm/PPF = ~ 390 PPFD
And many Digital Lux Meters with 0 - 200K range are accurate to +/- 5%...

Yes, if the PCB traces are damaged it could possibly cause "Flicker" due to shorts, increased resistance, etc.

Ok but is there a way to know what numbers the light should be putting out at a certain distance ignoring numbers I got from my lux meter?

Cheers

There is no simple way, but if you have the appropriate Software and IES Files for the LED Strips you could generate intensity distribution curves or plots similar to the following;

This is beyond my skills. Good luck
