H series 2ft strip build, how hard can i go?

Hello,

Because they are really cheap right now, i bought these strips: 50x SI-B8U11156HUS

Im planning on using 28 strips for +-300 watts with flat alu bars.
This should get me a nice efficiency around 180lm/w

https://ibb.co/VJwmWfj

I also want to build 1 or 2 light fixtures around 200 watts.
I have 22 strips remaining.
How hard should i drive them?
10 watts for 2 ft is quite low in my opinion.
Would 20 watts be possible without active cooling and just some sinking?

Was also considering getting some of those, but still have lots of F564B 4000K from last year.

The H562D Strip is ~ 2.61 PPE @ ~ 11 Watts (180 * 0.0145 = 2.61), 28 Strips on an HLG-320H-24 AB (or -48AB) can produce up to 835 PPF (2.61 * 320 = 835)...
Haven't used any H562D Strips but the F564B's with similar LM561C Diodes need minimal to no heat sinks when operated below 50% of max rated Amps.
At 27 Watts max rating (1.2 A * 22.5 Vf = 27 Watts), 10 - 11 Watts each is adequate for running "Soft"and minimal to no heat sinks... Good Luck.

Thanks alot.
Just for fun, how high would my umol/joule rating be for the 28 strips?

And could i drive my second build passive at 700-800ma?

The Efficacy (Lm/W, PPE or umol/J) is 2.61 PPE if the strips are all run at 11 Watts each at 180 Lm/W.
The Efficacy (Lm/W, PPE or umol/J) will only increase if the Watts per strip decreases (drops below ~ 10 Watts each) and Efficacy will decrease if Watts per Strip is increased.

As mentioned the Fixture’s total output is 835 PPF at 320 Watts or 57,600 Lm (320 * 180 = 57,600)

You can change the "Current" in the "Module Performance" of the Samsung Calculator Tool to get the actual Lm/W (PPE) and input the actual Driver % Efficacy in "System Configuration" to get the "System Performance"...

700 mA is 58% and 800 mA is 67% of 1200 mA the max rated Amps, so you will probably need some type of heat sinking...

BTW, the usual recommended max Amps with adequate Heat Sinks is 75% of Max rated Amps, 20 Watts or 900 mA each for these H562D Strips.

Thanks again.

I gues 2.6 ppe ain't bad.
Can i reach 3.0/w by adding red lights?
I cant simply add another 10 strips to reach 3.0 ppe
Because of the space.

You’re welcome.

Yes, you could add 660 nm LEDs to get to 3.0 PPE (umol/J) but the increased electrical Efficacy may not (usually doesn't) result in increased Photosynthetic efficiency.

Yes, you could add more strips with the same LED Driver (320 Watt) to increase Efficacy, but their is a maximum limit for these strips ~ 2.85 umol/J (197 Lm/W) @ 1.0 Watt !!! (That’s 320 strips) as seen in the Samsung Calculator Tool...

BTW, for the Samsung Lm to PPF Conversion Factor (cF) I use those posted by HLG... https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/b ... ux-to-ppfd
Samsung LED Lumens to PPF (umol/s) Conversion Factors (cF)
Samsung LED Lumens to PPF (umol/s) Conversion Factors (cF)
Samsung LED - Lumens to PPF (PPF/Lm) Factor (cF):
0.0135 = 5000K 80 CRI Cool
0.0144 = 4000K 80 CRI Neutral
0.0145 = 3000K 80 CRI Warm

For Bridgelux I use the Generic Conversion Factors... viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5756

Image
Generic for White PC LEDS - Lumens to PPF (PPF/Lm) Factor (cF):
0.014 = 5000K 80 CRI Cool
0.015 = 4000K 80 CRI Neutral
0.016 = 3000K 80 CRI Warm

For example;
20000 Lux * 0.015 = PPFD 300 umol/s/m2
2000 Lm * 0.015 = PPF 30 umol/s

"For those who don’t mind the extra wiring and mounting associated with these strips, they are very flexible and can provide even canopy coverage with high efficiency by spreading the LEDs out. Up to 12 of these strips can be paired with a 150-240W driver to cover areas from 60cm x 60cm (2’x 2′) to 90cm x 90cm (3′ x 3′)."

Thanks Pete, i made my build.
The size is 60cm x 90cm.
The strips are Packed right together.

How Manny ppfd would i have at 20cm?
I'm lighting a 60*90 grow space

You should measure with a Lux or Par meter...

As a comparison...
... 1344 - 3500K LM561C Diodes (28 - H562D Strips * 48 LM561C diodes)

... 1152 - 4000K LM561C Diodes (8 - F564B at 240 Watts) over approximately 60cm x 70cm is;
1512 umol/s/m2 (PPFD) @ 15cm
1065 umol/s/m2 (PPFD) @ 30cm
