I did see some 1" square, but it was quite a bit more expensive (and heavier) than the angle stuff I got. The angle I got is actually 25mm one side and 20mm the other, so if I have my edges long side up (eg: L) then the long side of the whole light shouldn't be any more than 24" (20+560+20=600mm). I'm thinking that as long as it's no more than 22" one size it should fit in anything. I doubt it matters at all if it's a few inches narrower than the grow area, it's still going to be much more spread out than a quantum board or COBs.
I apologize if the use of mm causes any confusion, especially mixed in with inches.

Did you figure out how to release the wire from the connection?

I did get the wire out. Pulled like hell and pressed down on that pin hole with the sharp point of a nail. It seemed really difficult so I will wait to finish instead of testing them with the 3500k only.

It can be a pain if you use stranded wire or a thicker wire than the connector is rated for.

The picture I posted was 18awg solid copper from a ballast kit. I was in the hardware store and seen that they had some 20awg solid cu. called "doorbell" wire. It was a red and white twisted together. Do you think that will work better? I read the data sheets and they said 18 gauge max so that's what I used but check out the teeth mark

hey there, i was looking at building 2 lights with the 280mm gen2 strips and was hoping someone could double check my driver choice. i was thinking:
8 strips in parellel wired to a HLG- 80H- C700 ?

and another 6 strips on a seprate HLG- 60H- C700 ?

i just want to make sure im not going to fry the Leds and if that i understand how to select a driver. thanks for all the help in the last few pages.

Hey man,

Any particular reason why you're wanting to drive them with a series driver as your wiring will be made in parallel ? I would recommend you checked CV+CC drivers such as the HLG-80H-20 family as these dudes run within the forward voltage area of the Gen2s (around 20VDC). You could still pull the same power but also guarantee that they are almost all driven at the same voltage/intensity ?

Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it. I must have misunderstood something when looking at those drivers last night, so the HLG-80H-20, and HLG-60H-20 would be a better fit? running them at ~20v
it looks like they supply more amps than i will need, is this an issue or will they only pull the current they need?

Since you’re only running a handful of low voltage strips, they would be a good candidate for series wiring on constant current OR parallel on constant voltage. If you go series/CC, a good match for 8 of them would be the HLG-120H-C700. You might have to dim them though because with the driver cranked, you’d be running them at 100% max current. For the 6 strip light, an HLG-80H-C700 would be a great match.

If you go parallel, you’d want something that can do about 600mA per strip or so, which is just shy of max. 600*8 would be 4800mA at 20V so an HLG-100H-20 is perfect. For the 6 strip light, that’d be 3600mA, so your best bet would be the HLG-80H-20, as dopenewb recommended.

Wow, that’s a big bite. 20 gauge may work better since it’s smaller. As gauge number increases, wire diameter decreases. Apologies if you knew this already.
