I'd like some advice- I'm building a 2'x2' fixture, using the F series strips and I'd like to mount the driver remotely. I'd also like to use a socket mounted into the (plywood) wall of my grow room, so that I can easily disconnect the lamp from the driver. Preferably water resistant...
I'm sure someone here must have done this, no ? I'm using an HLG- 480H-48B in a 3'x3' space.
Thanks !
ps- I can't believe how much of these products are consistently sold out ! Come on DigiKey !

I need a "I'm puzzled" button for this one . you need something capable of 48v 10amps.. with quick connect... the majority of what I found when I searched was 12/24v 1-3 amp dc barrel jacks or some funky spade type things with the same ratings.. growmau5 has similar barrel type connectors linked on his videos but I'm assuming they are also 12/24v type... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005C ... k_id%7D%7D
somehow I did find something on Mouser that looks like it is a quick connect that they use for telecommunication applications that would fit the power needs... seems expensive.. but then again it looks like they are used where quality matters!

Very interesting find on Mouser, JGG.
Most would argue that Wagos are a pretty quick connection to make and break.

little question. On my amazon wish list I have a similar connector but in the description they only talk about ac 220v/20A. Can I suppose it is ok for dc voltage?Jolly Green Giant wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 6:34 amsomehow I did find something on Mouser that looks like it is a quick connect that they use for telecommunication applications that would fit the power needs... seems expensive.. but then again it looks like they are used where quality matters!

that's what has me puzzled... does it have to be DC? or can it be AC? or do they make ones that handle both? this is where my stoner electrical knowledge is lackingGrower wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 10:18 amlittle question. that was my first though but the "socket mount" is what got me digging... and wondering...
another thing.. my post just before this... can you use AC rated connectors for DC applications??
That’s a nice find JGG ! I like the bayonet. The forward voltage on my light is right around 48.Jolly Green Giant wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 4:16 pmthat's what has me puzzled... does it have to be DC? or can it be AC? or do they make ones that handle both? this is where my stoner electrical knowledge is lackingGrower wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 10:18 amlittle question. We should try and figure this out definitively. I know you can’t use fuses or even switches interchangeably between AC and DC because of the longer-lasting arc that DC has. I would think if it was just a connector then it wouldn’t matter though, as long as you don’t exceed the current...Jolly Green Giant wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 4:20 pmthat was my first though but the "socket mount" is what got me digging... and wondering...

This is just my hunch though. Would love to have it confirmed.
