best diy choice for 4x4 tent

any opinions on the best setup for 4x4 tent as far as effeciency and spread? was debating (4)288.2's or some sort of strip setup.

I think it would be hard to beat a bunch of 4 foot strips, or two 2x4 fixtures from 2 foot strips. I guess ultimately its a budget question. 4 QB's certainly start offering decent spread. There is a thread here on in the midpower section where the ledG did some experiments on coverage for someone with a 4x4 tent.

any advice on which strips would be best? the guides show quite a few different styles.
for instance, the first one with four LT-FB24B strips, would that have a decent spread?

The newest most efficient series is the Samsung H-influx. The Samsung Q series uses the same diodes, but less of them. Both are a little expensive, but with the Q series you will pay more per diode.

One step down from that are the Samsung f-series and the bridgelux eb-gen2 series. The samsung strips can handle more power if they have good heatsinks, and the Bridgelux are cheaper in every other way, except if you need to buy expensive heatsinks (bridgelux needs more strips, so it could mean more heatsinks).

Then there are a bunch of other less dominant products. I use Bridgelux Vestas, they produce about 7% less growpower then the f-series, but they are 90cri, have a great balance of deep red, and they are tunable between 2700k--5000k. + they are really cheap.

Bro four boards would be fine enough. Anything holding light at the width of 4ft is cramped its not like you have a 5x5 for wiggle room. I am running 6 boards in my 4x4 and that is plenty of light to leave EVERYTHING covered with light! I started off with 4 and that was fine, but I was thinking if I upgraded to 5x5 I wouldn't need anything extra so I went with 6, but 4 will work just fine!
