What advantage might Nichia have, besides cost? (Which, of course, is a major consideration.)

Looking at the datasheet I see it's a tiny bit less efficient than the similar Samsung 3030 SMD (the LM301B) and a tiny bit more efficient than the more popular (at least on the forums) LM561C, when looking at all three running 3000k/90CRI with similar Fv/mA.
better colour spectrum...? idk just guessing
if u follow this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EZdahwtyC4 u can see difference... in my opinion led side lacking a bit of red... and if i m correct Nichia have more on red side ...
so if some will build new kind of board, maybe mixed lm561c and some Nichia for boosting red it will be 110% better in all ways vs HPS...
again... it is just noob guessing :D

I didn't realize there were any 90 CRI LM561C. Wonder why they're not using those?

Well, Samsung's 561C/301B@90CRI are harder to come by, and marginally more expensive than their 80CRI sisters. But they do exist, and I've seen pictures of Samsung reels with all the catalog codes on them.

If Nichia's cost even half a cent less per diode that multiplies very quickly for a commercial seller, but maybe they have other benefits too.

haha told ya!! nichia for the win!!
the solstrip has the same but on 3v version i guess, because 100v is hiiigh for me, prefere low voltage stuff :)

the lm561c s3 90cri exist since long time but in S3 model, not on s6
and in my opinion, the reason why everybody was pushing on the lm561c s6 on 80cri, is just because we where on a period of " best lm/w" and the 80cri version has an 170lm/w .
on high cri (90 and +) the lm/w is "low" , 110/130lm/w ....that why everybody was choosing the 80cri version.
But for now, with the new research we know than high cri have good result, especialy for flowering with their far red and red aptitude. So at the same wattage but with less lm/w the high cri does same result and sometime accelerate the flowering .

To finish, nichia has very goood result in lm/w on theire new nichia 757 , and on high cri they have a very good 130/150 lm /w !!
i told ya to get a look on the nichia 757 @5000k 97cri...some of the most beautifull spectrum ive seen on led :)
pretty sure hlg will keep it . ( and maybee mix them with the nichia 757 @2000k like i did in my strip! :p)
