Hi everyone,

After sleeping under a rock for 5 years i stumbled on this forum and i thought WOW. When i seized my hobby 5 years ago i was under the impression that hps was the way to go at that time because led was overly expensive and not good enough to produce good yields for a reasonable price.

My mind changed after reading this forum and i decided i want to build my own.

Thinking of building a 5x5 (1.5M x 1.5M) array of strips like takeshy's build what would give me the best bang for buck? Samsung or bridgelux strips and which type?

From what i read here bridgelux is way cheaper than samsung without compomising quality? But which type is the most populair now

Does anyone has expierience ordering from https://nl.infinity-electronic.hk/ as the prices seem very good at quantities over 25 ?

Need some advice as i am a newbe in the world of LED as i want to build an array of 36 50Watt strips running on 3X 320watt drivers.

Regards from holland.

There is at least one thread discussing this on the forum. Bridgelux seems to be most popular among DIY folks but from what I see Samsung is by far more popular with commercial manufactures.

I haven't seen any one complain about the quality of Bridgelux diodes. Consider not only the cost per diode but also the cost per lumen (yes lumens are for humans but it is the rating provided by manufactures). You may need far more Bridgelux diodes to produce the same amount of light. In some case more diodes will mean more cost in heat sinks. Best bang for buck can be a question of build cost or the energy efficiency of the build.

I only have personal experience with Samsung F-series strips.
