Hey guys I want to share my first build!

I roughed out some calculations... my area is 2.5x4 so that’s 10 sq ft... I’ve read that 30-40w/sq ft is a target range for strip builds. I think I should have went way more looking back.

Parts:
HLG 320H 42b driver
1120mm eb gen2 strips x 11 (3500k)
Fv: 39v nominal current: 700ma
0.090” 5056 aluminum sheet.
Amazon cheap V/I display
100k pot, with 1 10kohm wired in series
On off switch

I designed the fixture and laid it out on fusion 360, transcribed all the mounting holes from the 3d
Model of the eb strip through the pattern and into the 3d model. I drew up a sheet metal driver mount and small control box that I would house my terminal blocks, on off switch, digital V/A display and potentiometer. I 3d printed my own grommets so there was no chafing on the aluminum. I sent out the flat pattern dxf drawings for CNC laser so the spacing and hole positions was perfect. I drew in laser cut slots so I could bend the sheet into shape because I don’t have a press brake. I used thermal 2 way tape and 1/8” aluminum pop rivets to secure my strips (3 rivets per strip)

I bent a 3/4” inch lip all the way around for 2 reasons.
1. Adds a ton of rigidity to the fixture as opposed to one flat piece of aluminum
2. It allows you to set the fixture down without touching the diodes like many QB style fixtures.

Anyway. I love the way it turned out. I did a quick and dirty par check at 19” and I got around 500PPFD. Wasn’t overly impressed. What do you guys think about using this for flowering or should I get another driver and split the strips over 2 drivers?

Also, the V/I display runs on 5-30vdc and my driver was going to be outputting about 39v so I used a lm317 buck style voltage regulator for the lcd display to get down to 29.5v (it’s also showing 0.000a). Shes messed so I have a replacement on route.

I 3d printed a little base for it so the solder points didn’t short out on the aluminum box.
