Hello all,
I am amending/adding to a flower room. I have been using 2 200W quantum boards currently in a 3x4 room.
I started looking into building a strip light and got really excited when I found the PLC photo boost. I then had the inevitable deflation when i learned that they seem to be on eternal backorder.
I would like to use the most current tech as i know it is changing rapidly. I have decent electrical skills, but am getting confused on LED strip specs based on specific flower need. I've been looking at strips based on the 301B, as in https://www.digikey.com/en/products/det ... WW/8536580
Are there strips with integrated lights of different CCT's? Should I look to build alternate strips with different types? IR?
I've been looking at different builds and imaging the lights at 7 rows of 2, so 14 strips if i were to go with the 2' form, spaced 6" apart width wise. Actual dimensions are slightly under 3' and 4' so i would amend as needed.
I appreciate any information. I know some of you guys are quite deep in this knowledge so hope the questions aren't too banal.
Best
Tex
comparable strips to PLC photo boost
The Samsung strips you are looking at are fine, if you want to play around with spectrums then I have Buddies which are easy to connect and use.
There are heaps of options around for strips so take some time and look about.

Thanks/ Sorry for the delay. thought i was watching this topic and never saw that you had responded. What do you mean by buddies?
In lieu of price and everything, if I go with the Bridgelux gen 2 4', probably @3500, I would be using a HLG-480-42
Assuming I dial it down to 39V, running the strips at 700mA, would I be ok without heatsinks? I can get U channel aluminum locally pretty cheap.

These look great! I think buying domestically for me(US) makes more senseWelight wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 11:21 pmWe have a solution but with wider range of options

Buddies are one of my products that are handy for spectrum changes and additions to new or old builds. I dont have a US distributor for them right now so freight gets a bit pricey.

Understand, oddly all of the orders we have taken for these are for US customersnwtexan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 8:51 pmThese look great! I think buying domestically for me(US) makes more senseWelight wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 11:21 pmWe have a solution but with wider range of options

Eight (8) BXEB-L1120Z-35E4000-C-B3 are 39 Vf and only 218 Watts Total (@ 0.7 Amp or 700 mA each). An XLG-240-H-AB or similar 240 Watt driver is more than adequate. They will run "Cooler" requiring minimal heatsink when operated below ~ 50% Max rated Amps (1.4 Amps or 1400 mA Max Rated). Also no Voltage adjustment is required, needed or recommended because the 39 Vdc will be automatically adjusted at the Driver‘s internal circuitry, Voltage is within their “Constant Current Region”.nwtexan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 8:50 pmIn lieu of price and everything, if I go with the Bridgelux gen 2 4', probably @3500, I would be using a HLG-480-42

I'm neither a "Grower" nor Lighting Professional but you cannot objectively "Compare" lights without some type of "Grow Light Metrics". The PLC Strips are typical of the current generation of "Full Spectrum / Full Cycle Indoor LED Grow Lights", White LEDs with 660nm Red Diodes, though IMO some manufacturers actually add excessive percentage of 660nm to increase Electrical Efficiency (PPE) without regard to a "Balanced" horticultural spectrum. Good Luck.
DLC has produced Metrics / Requirements to qualify for "Listing";
Overview requirements... https://gpnmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2 ... hSpeak.pdf
Technical requirements... https://www.designlights.org/default/as ... g_V1-0.pdf
These "requirements" can be easily listed for true (objective) comparisons of any LED or light source... https://www.designlights.org/horticultu ... ng/search/
For Example... viewtopic.php?f=32&t=5494
Cutter PR Boost White LED with Cree XPG3 660nm Red Diodes

My preference for small (Area) Grow Lights is a higher CRI LED for increased Red and Far Red, but that comes at a price of lower Electrical Efficiency (PPE) that can be offset slightly by increasing the quantity of strips and running "Softer", with increased PPE... viewtopic.php?t=5761

@Welight
hello mate,
do you have some boards in 560x20mm size?
all I can see is x24mm.
I'm using 2020 heatsinks that are 20mm width only.
ideall strips for me would be either 2700k or 3000k combined with some far red for extra red boost.
highest cri preferred for sure.
thank you
